MgT
Minerals
Magnesium L-Threonate
Magnesium form that crosses the blood-brain barrier; supports brain magnesium levels.
What it is
Magnesium L-threonate (Magtein) is a patented magnesium chelate designed to elevate brain magnesium levels more effectively than other forms.
How it works
Crosses the blood-brain barrier; elevates brain Mg²⁺ to support synaptic density and NMDA receptor function.
What the evidence says
Emerging evidence for brain-specific magnesium elevation; limited but promising human cognitive trials.
Safety Notes
- Contains ~8% elemental magnesium. Higher pill count per dose than other Mg forms.
- Use caution with: severe kidney disease, hypermagnesemia.
- bisphosphonates (oral): Magnesium decreases absorption; separate ≥2h.
- tetracycline antibiotics: Chelation reduces absorption; space doses.
Timing With Other Supplements
- Magnesium Glycinate: Combining magnesium forms may exceed total Mg intake; track elemental Mg.
