Can you take zinc and iron together?
Yes, but space them out
Yes, with spacing when doses run high: high-dose iron can reduce zinc absorption.
What happens when you combine them
The catalog flags this one from iron's side: at higher doses, iron crowds out zinc. At typical supplemental doses (zinc 10 to 25 mg, iron 18 to 45 mg elemental) the effect is modest, and it grows with the iron dose.
Both minerals also share the same bad neighbor: calcium blunts each of them. Treat zinc and iron as two solo acts, not a duet.
How to time it
Zinc with food in the morning or midday. Iron in its own window, 2 hours clear of other minerals. If you're on therapeutic iron for a deficiency, protecting that dose comes first, so slot zinc at the opposite end of the day.
